Arabian Peninsula Background Notes
This series of background notes is intended to provide information on various events, developments, and personalities in the
recent history and politics of the Arabian Peninsula. The material they contain is derived from secondary publications and
unpublished matter, archival sources, and the author's personal observations and interviews. They lay no claim to being comprehensive
or fully accurate. Although considerable effort has been made to assure the reliability of the information they contain, their
accuracy is limited to the information contained in the sources listed in the note. It is anticipated that new APBNs will
be issued on a continuing but irregular basis, as the author's time allows. The contents of these notes may be freely quoted
and cited provided both the author and source are given.
